Leopard 45 Marseille to Antigua
The delivery of Sailing Catamaran Manaphy
Leopard 45 Manaphy couldn’t sail in the Mediterranean due to COVID-19 restrictions, so we’re taking her to Antigua instead.
Manaphy is a new catamaran that requires some care. We will put it back in the water, clean it thoroughly, and cover and protect all areas before delivery.
Covering and protecting sensitive surfaces on the Leopard 45 takes time, but it’s necessary during long voyages.
The boat is safeguarded both internally and externally to avoid harm and reduce wear and tear.
The journey begins smoothly, heading south to the Balearics with a quick pitstop in Ibiza for refuelling.
We then head west towards Gibraltar for the most significant fueling, as it offers cheaper prices.
The Fuel is always a concern. Before starting the journey we took good care of many things still under warranty including full engine service and that is helping a lot since we are doing a lot of motoring.
We decide to go deep south slightly below Cape Verdes to find good winds…
This is the result of good care and attention to details. The boat is immaculately clean and new on arrival and we have to do very little to make it tip-top!
Despite her many voyages across thousands of nautical miles, sailing catamaran Manaphy is still in pristine condition, a testament to her quality and resilience.
All possible only with the help of our crew members Co-Skipper Joseph, Nicholas and Georgie
I contracted Delivery Captain to deliver our new Leopard 45 from Marseille to Antigua & Barbuda in the fall of 2020.
This is our first boat and first delivery. Andrea was incredibly helpful and patient throughout the planning process, answering questions and providing extremely useful advice.
Andrea and his crew did an outstanding job prepping the boat for the journey — wrapping, covering and protecting everything — as well as outfitting with necessary gear that came in super handy when I took over the boat.
Even better, Andrea checked all the systems on the boat and informed me of a couple of issues, so that when I boarded the boat myself in Antigua I was armed with some key replacement parts. Communications throughout the crossing were crisp and clear.
The boat arrived looking like a brand new boat! In short, the service was comprehensive, exceedingly competent, and Andrea made it down-right fun, sharing photos along the way. Absolutely top-notch service.
