Leopard 58 Malta to L'Estatit Spain

leopard 58

Joining in Malta Valletta. The leopard 58 stands out amongst all boats in the marina and is not difficult to be found. Very spacious and comfortable as I find out together with very happy owners Marian and Rob. A real good start.

They are very enthusiastic about the voyage ahead and so am I. Also good to see that we get along immediately with a great instant connection. SUPER COOL PEOPLE!!! A delivery crew is the most valuable asset to have and we do have it…Surely is going to be easy and fun.

The weather changes all the time for the end of the season usual weather-pattern the Mediterranian usual, but our window seems good to go, so no time to waste, since they have done a good job by preparing our Leopard 58; we can slip lines and go…of course after a nice welcome dinner.

Our first stop is just around the corner: Marsala Sicily

Stopping in Marsala proved to be a very good decision as we discovered. Engine batteries died and we could not go the next day. This gave us a chance to enjoy the little pretty town of Marsala.

The owner of the marina was very helpful and sorted out our batteries very quickly and a few other things since we were there. Very happy.

The weather though kept us on our toes as it was changing all the time and we could not leave before a couple of days anyway.

A quick change in the weather gave us a few days window to make Balearics from Marsala so once again is time to slip lines and go.

We have a good run till after Cagliari even though we get slightly caught in the tail of a big gale and we have a bad night with winds up to 30kts on the beam making our trip quite exciting.

The Leopard 58 handles pretty well and we all get a chance to put in some good sailing practice very valuable to the owners.

We approached Palma de Mallorca to refuel and rest, but the marinas were all fully booked so after a bit of struggle to get fuel, we managed to make our way directly to L’Estarit.

Gale force winds are now all around us and we cannot hesitate on our next move. Hince the decision to carry on with no further delays. A great experience for us all and a great adventure.

Delivery of Leopard 58 from Malta to L’Estartit Spain.

We contracted Andrea to help us bring our new catamaran from Malta to Spain, with us and our two cats onboard.

This was our first journey in our cat, and the first long journey we’ve been on since recently passing our day skipper licences. Andrea was the consummate professional that we had hoped for, he taught us a lot and allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip, safe in the knowledge that we were in very experienced hands. We got on very well too, Andrea is a fun guy to have onboard!
