Leopard 45 Remedy Tahiti Mexico
Delivery of saling Catamtamaran Remady from tahiti to Mexico
Sailing Catamaran Remedy Leopard 45
Arrival in Papeete is not easy at all due to covid-19 restrictions, but I must say that by now we are all very used to it. Papeete is open regardless of the entry test needed and we can enjoy some time around the Island. Restaurants and bars opened and it’s all much easier. remedy our Leopard 45 is ready to go and very well kept by Owners. Few days of preparation with covering, the full comprehensive boat check, provisioning, fuel and we are out.
On our way to Mexico.
Remedy is going to Mexico Ensenada to start with, but the owner’s plan does change as we go along. The new destination is Puerto Penasco where she will haul out for a while. Our plan is no plan for now. We need to see what the weather has in store for us, and based on that we will play our best shot. Hawaii is an option, go north as far as 30N (non-Stop) is an option … I don’t really like the idea of Hawaii as they really far from our way, and what if we miss them! Remedy performs far better than expected and our weather is exceptionally good…
Checking the sail.
Although we go through a couple of very intense ENE gales with winds up to 45kts our sail is amazing and we do really well heading NNE which is a real blessing! So we are making North a little bit East. Hawaii is disappearing from our thoughts and going on a straight leg is the only real plan…
Sailing along.
We are now a long way away from Tahiti and so far north that we can start thinking about coming down again towards Cabo San Lucas, our next port.
As we left we had some small damage to the genoa’s UVA covering coming apart on the first blow. This will be repaired once we enter Cabo. But the real bid issue we had was losing all our instruments the first week out. Three days without autopilot, wind instruments, AIS, was not nice at all and very tiring, especially in heavy weather. It took some effort to get it back to work but we did manage in the end.
Time to meditate.
All very nice of course to deal with if you travel with a special crew. Paige and Magdalena were very professional and always managed to keep the boat spirit up and made it all more fun. Both Yoga teachers helped me meditating on our journey and go through the hard times in a much easier way. Well done!
Approaching Cabo San Lucas
30°N is our turning point and hell yes! We pick up some great winds that take us all the way down to Cabo on yet another incredible but comfortable upwind sail. Remedy likes it here at about 60° angle and do we! Fast. After about 4000nm and 33 days at sea in the Pacific Ocean, we finally see land. Cabo San Lucas. We don’t know what is in Puerto Penasco, so better do it now.
Likely all necessary work, repair and cleaning were done in Cabo and so as we arrive in Puerto Pensaco we can haul the boat out immediately. Here there is not clean water (you have to order it) and no fuel ( as covid started they have very little supply). So, I make contact with the Cabrales Boat Yard and both Salvadore’s father were able to arrange it all very smoothly and quickly, well done!
Paige and Magdalena can relax and be proud of themselves for the amazing delivery done to perfection. thank you!
