The Captain will need a Letter of Authority:
Boat name, location, destination, intended stops, or the passage plan, including both the owner’s name, passport, address, and the Captain should be stated. Also, the starting date and the duration should be included.
About InReach/IridiumGO/Satellite Phone/Starlink/:
The IridiumGO is the preferred communication system by DC. This should be included on all deliveries that have passages more than 200nm from land.
Customers can purchase the Iridium Go, InReach or Starlink privately and have it ready for the Skipper and Crew to use upon their arrival (Joining Date). Alternatively, we provide this service. Please request additional information and pricing.
The InReach is great for tracking, SMS communication and short weather forecast information.
The Iridium Go will enable telephone calls, SMS, and email (through the Iridium Webmail APP) along the way, plus daily tracking of the position via SMS. The Internet is not available.
Satellite Phone: Still a great gadget to have onboard. Even though, it needs a lot of bits and pieces to connect to provide a weather forecast. Light and easy to carry.
Starlink is a good and valid option, as mentioned above. This provides complete internet at high speeds at all times (or nearly all times). It is preferable to order it and have it mounted and fixed on the boat before the joining date. At present, we do not provide it because it is still too heavy to carry. Please contact me, and I will discuss the Starlink option with you separately and provide valid options on how we can arrange it for you. IT CANNOT BE CARRIED AWAY FROM THE BOAT IN CASE OF REAL DANGER.
The joining date is a date set and agreed upon by both parties (DC and OWNER or CHARTER COMPANY).
All crew will purchase flights and arrange their way to the designated vessel on that date or very close.
The date can be changed at no cost only before travel arrangements have been confirmed by the crew and travel booked and paid for.
Any changes after that result in a total loss of money for the owner who will have to pay all travel costs again for the new bookings.
We always book low fares to save money. If the joining date is not certain, we always suggest holding bookings.
About completion:
Completion is the time when the delivery has terminated, and the boat has reached its destination.
The skipper will hand over the boat to the owner or broker Charter company and present all documentation regarding the voyage and the boats including a possible defect list and a full report.
This document will be signed by both parties and the skipper and crew will be able to arrange their travel back home.
Accounting & Billing:
DC will ensure that all expenses have receipts and promptly submit them to the owner or broker charter company.
Any significant matters and expenses will be discussed beforehand with the owner or broker charter company.
DC will operate on a pay-as-you-go basis, billing at every stop.
Every invoice should be settled before the yacht arrives at the next port to maintain accurate accounting and prevent excess expenses being covered by our skippers or DC.
If the standard accounting provided is insufficient and the owner or broker charter company requests a more precise solution, adjustments will be made accordingly.
