Dufour 38 GL from Termoli Italy to Torrevieja Spain

Jolie Doris Dufour 382 GL in Ibiza . Fuel station, just a pit stop as we will be heading for Formentera.

Cpt. Andreajoined Jolie Doris in Termoli Italy waiting for his crew to arrive.

The full crew arrives in Termoli and we are all set. Me Sebastian (Basti), and Suzan will check the boat and provision for about 10 days and tomorrow we will go.

Said and done! Before we know we are out there sailing our Dufour 38 away to this new adventure through the Mediterranean Sea. Our final destination will be Torrevieja ….but we will make a few stops.

The land is now far away, and the crew is checking we have not left anything behind. Suzan our onboard photographer.

Our trip went pretty well, though we did have our moments. We made a quick stop in Brindisi for fuel and then straight through Messina.

We made our next stop Cagliari where we stayed only one night. Leaving Cagliari was ok but the forecasted strong breeze became a gale and that was not fun at all…

We made it through nicely, even though our old genoa did not. We motor-sailed to Ibiza and arrived safely to enjoy a quick stop in Formentera. It took less than a day to arrive in Torrevieja with no winds ahead of a big gale to come.

As always for us, this is time for farewell. We all had a great time and pleasure sailing Jolie Doris, and now it’s time for Mr. Door to enjoy it with his family.

Special thanks to my crew Basty & Suzan

We were in contact with Andrea more than a year before buying Jolie Doris, a 2015 Dufour 382 Grand Large, in Italy.

No hard-selling of delivery, just our questions and his advice on how it would work when buying a boat somewhere in the Mediterranean for delivery in Spain.

After buying Jolie Doris and having sailed her 200 NM further south in the Adriatic ourselves as part of a short vacation, preparing with Andrea for Jolie Doris’ delivery from Termoli, Italy to Torrevieja, Spain (approx. 1200 NM) evolved very transparently and pragmatically: whereas pricing and conditions were set first, all subsequent administration was completed duly and quickly.

Following the practical preparation of the 11-day  trip itself by Andrea and his team in Termoli, the sail was set for the actual delivery.

It went smoothly and fast, without forcing the boat, and with Andrea sending us regular updates of the actual location and the overall status of the delivery and, of course, the boat. Whereas the safety of the boat and crew prevailed, ETA in Spain was respected too.

Handing over of Jolie Doris to ourselves in Torrevieja has been done as it should be: we together checked the condition of the (super clean!) boat all over and a series of potential improvements to Jolie Doris, listed by Andrea based on almost 2 weeks close to non-stop sailing, promised to be very helpful in further optimising Jolie Doris’ condition.

Our family is very pleased with the performance of Andrea and his team! We are now looking forward to enjoying Jolie Doris in Spain for many years to come!
